It is a biological insecticide which contains naturally occurring entomopathogenic fungus Metarhizium anisopliae. It contains Spores and mycelial fragments of Metarhizium anisopliae with a minimum CFU count of 5×107/gm and Carrier in wettable powder form.

Application Protocol:
Seed treatment – Mix 10 gms of Marvel-MP of with 10 gms of jaggery in sufficient water to make a slurry and treat 1 kg of seeds, dry in shade for 30 minutes and sow / broadcast / dibble in the field.
Seedling treatment (Root dipping) – Mix 2kg of Marvel-MP in 10 liters of water, keep the seedling roots in immersed condition for 30 minutes and transfer it to the field.
Soil drenching – Mix 5 kg of Marvel-MP in 100 – 200 liters of water and drench solution near root zone of crop.
Soil application – Mix 5kg of Marvel-MP with 100 kg of compost incubate for 4 days and apply to the one-acre field.

Mode of Action: Its conidial spores get attached to the host by entering through the host spiracles and pores and start germinating. Surface growth on cuticle can also be seen where the fungus derives nutrition from the lipids in the cuticle. The fungus produces an appressorium which start the invasion of host insect. The appressorium produces a penetration peg that enters the external skeleton (cuticle) of the host. The fungus produces a lateral extension of hyphae inside insect body which proliferate and start feeding on insect’s internal contents.
